What is VIOLET about?
VIOLET is a powerful and poignant musical about one woman’s journey to self-awareness and self-acceptance. Tony-winner Jeanine Tesori combines gospel, rock, and folk music for a truly original and rousing score.
What is exciting to you about this project?
I am really looking forward to revisiting this show, which I directed for SpeakEasy back in 2000. We typically do not do revivals or repeats, but I thought it would be a fun way to mark the company’s 25th Anniversary by bringing back one of our favorite shows.
In addition, we will be working with a number of local gospel choirs who perform as part of the show. I guarantee you that the sound created by the voices in this show will be unforgettable.

VIOLET is both heartfelt and inspirational. I think everyone who sees the powerful musical will be able to relate to some aspect of Violet’s story.
