The Fellowship program is for theater administrators looking to transition into the professional world after graduation or for those interested in a new career path. This entry level position is considered a part of the core staff of theater professionals and works closely with all departments of the organization.

Applications for our 2025 – 2026 Artistic & Creative Content Fellowship will be due by May 1, 2025.

ARTISTIC & Creative Content FELLOWSHIP

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the Artistic Director and Director of Artistic & Community Programs in all aspects of artistic programming, literary management, and community engagement.
• Support the Marketing Manager in creative content planning and marketing strategy as it relates to artistic productions.
• Act as Assistant Director on one production in the season.
• Serve as the bridge between the Artistic and Marketing productions.
• Read plays and attend weekly literary meetings to help cultivate future seasons.
• Manage and facilitate all company auditions.
• Complete assorted artistic, educational, and engagement projects including, but not limited to, production dramaturgy, community outreach, workshop planning, and education material creation.
• Assist other SpeakEasy departments as necessary, including with Community Engagement, Development, Special Events, Operations, and Production.

EMPLOYMENT & COMPENSATION:

• Fellowships run the length of one theatrical season, or approximately 10 months. Exact start and end dates vary, but usually span August – June.
• Fellowships are part-time, approximately 20-30 hours a week, with occasional evening and weekend events. The schedule is flexible and can be created around other jobs and/or artistic projects.
• Fellows are paid MA minimum wage.
• Additional benefits include complimentary tickets to all SpeakEasy shows (in perpetuity), as well as weekly offers to artistic events throughout the city.
• Role reports to the Director of Artistic & Community Programs and the Marketing Manager.

  • what you are hoping to gain from this experience, both short-term and long-term
• A resume (including relevant job history and theatre experience)
• A brief description (no more than one page) of either the most moving piece of theatre you’ve ever seen, or an artist who inspires you
• Two letters of recommendation from former employers, professors, or supervisors. These letters may be sent separately via e-mail to fellow@speakeasystage.com, but must be received by the application due date.
