MELINDA LOPEZ (Director) returns to SpeakEasy where she directed An American Daughter and appeared in The Dying Gaul, Theatre District, Anna in the Tropics, The Motherf**ker with The Hat, Appropriate, Grand Concourse and more. Elsewhere Ms. Lopez has appeared in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Yerma, Our Town, Persephone, The Rose Tattoo, and A Month in the Country with The Huntington. A playwright, Ms. Lopez’s works include Sonia Flew, Gary, Becoming Cuba, Mala, Mr. Parent, Young Nerds of Color, Black Beans Project and more. She is also a Professor of the Practice at Northeastern University and works with MFA candidates at Boston University. She is active providing humanitarian aid for the people of Cuba, (FriendsOfCaritasCuba.com) and was cited by President Obama in a speech to the Cuban and American people. Former Mayor Marty Walsh declared October 29, 2016 “Melinda Lopez Day” in the city of Boston.
