KarenMacDonald* ( Pru Payne) is a Boston based actor, director and teacher and has appeared at Speakeasy Stage in Heroes of the Fourth Turning, The Children, Other Desert Cities and The Drowsy Chaperone. Recent appearances include Wipeout at Gloucester Stage, Gaslight and A Christmas Carol at Merrimack Rep, Rooted at The Lyric Stage and Common Ground Revisited at the Huntington Theatre. In the New England area, she has worked at Hartford Stage, Trinity Rep, Gamm Theatre, Boston Theatre Company, Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse, Greater Boston Stage Company, Israeli Stage, New Rep, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company , The Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops among others. She is a Founding Company Member of the American Repertory Theatre and appeared in 73 productions., in both the U.S. and Europe. On Broadway, she understudied and performed the role of Amanda Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie, directed by John Tiffany. She has also worked at Theatre for a New Audience, The Roundabout Theatre and Second Stage. Nationally, she has worked across the country from the Wilma Theatre to Berkeley Rep. She has received several Eliot Norton and IRNE Awards for her performances, as well as the Robert Brustein Prize for Sustained Achievement in the Theatre and the Eliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence.
