1960s Dublin is the setting for this charming musical about the redemptive power of theatre, love, and friendship. Bus conductor Alfie Byrne has two joys in life: the poetry of Oscar Wilde and staging amateur productions with his local theatre …
Billy Meleady (Baldy) is delighted to return to SpeakEasy Stage, and is especially
delighted to work with Paul Daigneault once more. This is Billy’s second musical with
SpeakEasy, with both shows – A Man of No Importance and Once — being set in his hometown of Dublin. Billy’s last theatre production, The Smuggler at Boston Playwrights Theatre, earned him his second Elliot Norton Award, this time for Outstanding Solo Performance. Billy is currently working on his own one-man variety show titled Billy Meleady’s One-Man Variety Show, which he expects will be amazingly transportable and fit into the most unlikely of spaces.
